World Whisky Day (or Whisk(e)y, as the Irish and Americans use the “e,” and the Scots, Canadians, and Japanese do not) is on the third Saturday in May, and right off the heels of World Cocktail Day. It’s a day to simply celebrate and raise a dram to the many forms of this barrel-aged spirit – Irish, Scotch, Bourbon, Rye, etc.
Join the celebration on social media using #WorldWhiskyDay and share what you’re drinking and how you enjoy your whisky – on the rocks, with water, or with a mixer. In previous years, more than 250,000 people have posted to social media to share what they are drinking to celebrate the day. There are also many events hosted around the world throughout the day.
World Whisky Day founder Blair Bowman is hosting the Big Fat Whisky Quiz on the World Whisky Day Facebook page and Jameson Whiskey will be celebrating with a live broadcast from their distillery in Bow Street, Dublin via the the Jameson YouTube channel on Saturday, May 16th, at 3pm EST / 12pm PST.
